Are you an INHIBITED INHABITED? Are you an eagle or a turkey? An eagle misplaced in a barnyard would likely behave - eat, walk, and attempt to gobble just like a turkey. He would never soar in the skies until he realized that he indeed was not a turkey, but an eagle! Have you discovered all that you are in Christ? OR do you continue to act like what you were before you were saved?
When you were saved, did you know?...* you were free “in Christ? * you were a new creation? * a son/daughter of the King?
OR did you walk about as a POOR person - beggar, pleading while all the time you had a checkbook from the Bank of Grace in your pocket?
In Christ is the most important phrase for an understanding of your identity! Saint OR “dirty old sinner? What are you in your thinking?
A SAINT = one who has received the Lord Jesus Christ. A blood washed believer who has been saved by God’s grace; one who may still sin but is surprised when they do.
“A Christian is not a person who is inhibited by a lot of rules, but is inhabited by a new Ruler.” is a quote from Mike Gilchrist. Study it and think about it. Can you identify?
Chosen in Christ: *the basis of election *He chose to choose
*If you are IN CHRIST, you are chosen by God.
“chosen, choose and election” - all mean the same thing.
Predestination and election (choosing)have to do with ONLY the saved. Chosen has to do with Service. Predestination has to do with those who are IN CHRIST!
God foreknew - God knows the whosoever wills! - Salvation is based on whosoever will!
Chosen OUT OF THE WORLD, ONCE AND FOR ALL to be God’s OWN as a peculiar treasure!!!!
Chosen TO BE holy…not because we were holy!
Attribute of God: Foreknowledge [never determines; beforehand knowledge.
ACTS of God: Predestination and election Romans 12:3; Ephesians 1:4
CHOSEN FOR SERVICE!
John 6:44, 15:16 HOLY is a RESULT of God choosing you IN CHRIST, not the basis of His choice!!!!
God has made you DIFFERENT! II Corinthians 5:17
Repentance for Salvation…changing my mind about Jesus and acknowledging Him as the Son of God and your Lord and Savior. Behavior Repentance…Holy Spirit working in my heart and my choosing to obey after salvation. The whosoever wills IN CHRIST [saved] are predestined for certain blessings.
You can be IN and not perceive it. If you are still the same miserable crosspatch that you were before salvation…?...you either or not saved OR you have never acknowledged and reckoned to be so who you are IN CHRIST! “Gotta know who you are!”
What we WERE as compared to what we now are IN CHRIST:
1. WERE dead in trespasses and sin __________He “quickened and made you alive.
2. WERE dead because of sin__________He “raised” you with Him.
3. WERE earthbound and headed for hell__________”in the heavenlies”
4. WERE children of wrath_______ “riches of His grace”
Are you wearing the GRACE clothes Or the grave clothes? The Old…at that time ye were…
Without Christ.... The New…now, therefore ye are…
Aliens... Citizens of the one city...
Strangers... Members of the one family...
Having no hope... Built on the one foundation...
Without God... Parts of the one building...
Indwelt by the one Spirit
What a contrast! We are different than What we WERE! We must KNOW Our identity to be enabled by the Holy Spirit to live out our new identity.
WRONG actions and wrong attitudes Always come from wrong thinking (believing)!!!
