(Jeff LeBlanc taught the class:)
Paul moves from who we are in the first three chapters of Ephesians, to appropriating that in our day to day lives.
Eph 4:1 - Paul implores the Ephesians to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which we've been called... he begins with therefore... therefore what? verse by verse review pulling out key words of Ephesians 1:3-15 gives us this list of this calling and the means by which we are called to walk. We are:
-Blessed -Chosen
-Predestined -Adopted
-Accepted -Redeemed
-forgiven -enlightened
-made heirs -sealed
-assured
All of that at the point of salvation.
Therefore (Eph 4:1) marks the transition
from doctrine to duty
from principle to practice
from position to behavior
Paul continues in vs. 2 with key characteristics that are a part of walking worthy... walk in humility and gentleness, patience showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the bond of peace.... (more classroom discussion)
Our walk vs. 22-24 compares our former life to our new life in Christ. Galations 2:20 was expounded upon. We are renewed in the mind and that newness in which we've been regenerated is in the likeness of God, created in righteousness and holiness
